Services for young people
Many young people find 'going to the doctor' difficult. Timings of surgeries and embarrassment about broaching personal subjects independently for the first time are contributing factors.
At Friarsgate we make every effort to make young people welcome and to feel comfortable talking to both our nurses and doctors within the practice. Our surgeries are open right throughout the day and evening to try and make access more easily available.
We have a great deal of experience with the problems young people may have as they become independent, the practice currently looks after several schools and colleges in the area.
We offer specialist advice on sexual health and contraception, drug-related issues and psychological difficulties and will shortly be adding a gap year health advice service for students who plan to travel overseas.
All consultations are confidential.
