Flu & COVID Vaccine update

Since the beginning of September 2021 the practice has administered over 4000 flu vaccines to our patients aged 50 and above or those in other at risk categories.

Public Health England are concerned that this winter with COVID and Flu circulating together this will put a further strain on NHS services and so are advising that anyone eligible for a flu vaccine to book in for one.  If you have not already booked your flu vaccine but have been invited to do so please contact the practice.

The Winchester City Primary Care Network (the three Winchester Practices Friarsgate, St Paul’s and St Clements’s) have worked together over the last 10 months to deliver the first and second phases on the COVID vaccination programme.  As we move into phase 3 of this programme (delivery of COVID boosters) the three practices will now work separately but, still use the Badger Farm Community centre.

The Friarsgate Practice is currently vaccinating the vulnerable residents and staff of the Nursing and care homes we look after in Winchester and will then move to vaccinating vulnerable patients in the who are 6 months post their second COVID vaccine.  We will also be offering a third vaccine to severely immunosuppressed patients.  The practice will invite all eligible patients over the coming weeks so please wait for your invite and then follow the instructions to book an appointment at the Badger Farm Community Centre.

Thank you and stay safe.
