Dr Michael Lambert Retirement – March 2023

I am writing to you personally to let you know that I will be retiring from Friarsgate at the end of March next year – 31st March 2023.

By then I will have have been a full time GP at Friarsgate for 28 years, having started here in April 1995, when I was a young and green GP of 30 years of age!

At Friarsgate, we have always extolled the value and importance of the GP personal list, and for me this is the bedrock of Primary Care, and enables us to truly be the family Doctor.

It has been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to have been your GP through these changing times. For some our relationship may have been relatively short, but there are some of you who have been with me from the very start, when I took over from Dr John Cooke.

There have been many trials and tribulations, tears of sadness and of joy, cycles of change, lots of humour and fun, and above all a lot of hard work. But it is has also been amazing, and these years at Friarsgate have been wonderful, bringing many fond and long lasting memories.

Although I am going to be leaving Primary Care, as some of you will know, I am also trained in Occupational Medicine, and I am going to continue to work within this speciality for a few more years.

In due course, we will naturally be recruiting my replacement and we will keep you updated regarding this later in the year, as my leaving draws closer. Until then, I will continue as ever, to do my best for every one of you, and will do so until my final day.

It just remains for me to say thank you, so very much – for your support and trust in me, through all these years.

My very best wishes,
Dr Michael GB Lambert
