Making an appointment

How our appointment system works

The surgeries run on an appointment system. We would like to encourage all our patients to consult with their own GP as much as possible. When you contact the surgery you will notice that our receptionists will advise you who your GP is and will try their best to help you see your own GP.

You can book an appointment in 3 ways :

1. Online - register with Patient Access to book appointments, order prescriptions and manage your patient record.

2. Telephone the Weeke surgery on 01962 871730

3. Drop in to either of our surgeries

Appointments are available at our Weeke surgery, and also at our branch surgeries in Badger Farm and at the University of Winchester

Patient Access

  • This allows you to book & cancel appointments, order prescriptions and view some of your medical record online.
  • To register - you need to visit the surgery, with photo ID, where you will be given log on details to enable you to use this service
  • Once this is set up, you can access this any time and download the App

Routine GP appointments can be made up to three weeks in advance.

Routine appointments for GPs can be booked a maximum of 3 weeks (21 days) in advance, with appointments being released on a weekly basis

Continuity with your own GP

We do encourage our patients to see their own GP wherever possible. If you find you are unable to book a routine appointment with your own GP, please ask our reception team to book you a telephone consultation with your GP, who will be able to discuss your condition with you and arrange an appropriate consultation. We have found that there are many situations where patient’s problems have been very successfully managed through the telephone consultation alone, saving you the trip to the surgery and freeing up routine appointments for others to use. Alternatively, it may be that a nurse appointment may be required, which your GP would be able to arrange.

Duty triage team

We also operate a DUTY TEAM system at the Weeke surgery

This is available 8am - 6.30pm Monday to Friday.

If you feel you have an urgent problem or need advice that day, and your own GP is not available, you will be offered a telephone consultation with our Advance nurse practitioner led duty team. The duty team will be able to arrange an appointment that day or with your own GP when appropriate. They are also able to access urgent nursing appointments and investigations. If a prescription is needed they can arrange for this to be sent electronically to a chemist of your choice or collected from the surgery.

WE DO NOT OFFER A WALK-IN EMERGENCY CLINIC – if you require urgent care; please call the surgery on 01962 871730

Choice of GP

Our aim is to provide continuity of care, so we do encourage patients to state a preference for one GP and to see him/her wherever possible. If you wish to change your preference for any reason then please write to the Practice Manager.

Online access to appointments is now available via Patient Access Service
