Meet the GPs

Dr Tim J Stannard BM, BS, Nottingham 1983, DRCOG, MRCGP, DCH

Tim joined the Practice in 1989 and enjoys the challenges that the NHS and patients give him. He has a particular interest in Paediatrics and Diabetes.

Tim is married with three children and, when leisure time is available, enjoys walking and cycling.

Dr Niki J Wright BM, Southampton 1987, MRCGP, DRCOG

Niki joined Friarsgate as a Partner in 1993. She is passionate about all areas of General Practice and has a particular interest in healthy living. Niki has completed a certificate in Obesity Management at Reading university and is involved in the local Health Walks programme, running a walking group for patients.

Married with three children, Niki still finds time for regular walking herself, cycling and swimming as well as being actively involved in the local community and is an assistant cub scout leader too.

Dr Michael G B Lambert MB BS, London 1989, MRCGP, DRCOG, DCH, DOccMed

Michael trained at St Thomas's Hospital in London, and after working in the UK and New Zealand, joined as a Partner at Friarsgate in 1995. He is interested in all aspects of general practice and thoroughly enjoys work as a family doctor. He is also trained in Occupational Medicine and offers Occupational Health Services from within the Practice.

Michael has a hectic family life with his wife Helen, their four children and their Spaniel "Scamp". When time allows, he may be out on his bicycle, on the golf course or on the tennis court.

Dr Helen Lambert BM, MRCP MRCGP

Having grown up in rural Lancashire, Helen came to study medicine in Southampton in 1993 and stayed to live and work in the local area. She joined Friarsgate as a GP in 2004. Helen is currently a GP appraiser.

Helen enjoys all aspects of General Practice but especially caring for families and patients with cardiac problems.

Helen lives in Kings Somborne with her husband and young family. She enjoys family life, cooking and keeping fit.

Dr Stephen M Fowler MB BS (London 1995), MRSCEd, MRCGP

Stephen was born and brought up in Winchester and attended Peter Symonds College, before moving to London where he trained at Charing Cross Hospital. He then worked in Emergency Medicine before becoming a GP and joined Friarsgate as a Partner in 2010. He enjoys all aspects of family medicine and has a particular interest in Minor Surgery.

He lives locally with his wife and young family. Any leisure time is spent with his family and also tinkering with his other love - an old MGB Roadster.

Dr Sarita Sluman BM MRCGP DFFP

Sarita graduated from Southampton University in 1999 and she has continually worked in the surrounding area since then. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice but particularly enjoys Paediatrics and Ear, Nose and Throat problems.

Sarita has a busy family life, with three children and a black Labrador called Henry. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with the family, going for walks or cycle rides in the New Forest and swimming.

Dr Helen Walters MBBS MRCGP DRCOG DFSRH

Helen joined Friarsgate as a partner in November 2011. She trained at Barts and The London School of medicine and stayed in East London to complete her GP training.

'Helen enjoys all elements of General practice, and has a particular interest in contraception. Helen lives in Newbury with her husband and two children, and is a keen runner'

Dr Vykunthan Selvaratnam BSc (Hons) MBBS (Lon) MRCS (Eng) MRCGP

Vykunthan grew up in Sri Lanka before moving to London to study medicine at Imperial College. After graduating in 2004, he trained in surgery and then in General Practice. He enjoys all aspects of general practice and has a particular interest in minor surgery and joint injections.

Vykunthan currently lives in Southampton with his young family and enjoys running, cycling and camping when time allows.

Dr Jason Bradbury MB BS MRCP MRCGP

Jason qualified in 1995 at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical in London, before moving to Southampton to train in Hospital Medicine. He enjoys all facets of GP life and maintains an interest in cardiology, chest medicine and diabetes.

Jason enjoys a busy family life and has two sons. He spends most weekends coaching and watching his sons play football and when time permits, he enjoys football, cricket and cycling himself.

Dr Claire Baker MBBCh, DCh, MRCGP

Claire moved to Winchester in 2007 after 12 years living and working as a GP in London. Claire is from Somerset and did her GP training in Bath.

Claire greatly enjoys the variety of General Practice work and supporting her patients and their families through their lives and events.

Claire is married with 2 children and enjoys literature, walking, cycling and tennis.

Dr Nathalie Hodgson, London 2002, MBBS, MRCGP

Dr Nathalie Hodgson qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2002 and then trained as a surgeon. She went on to pursue a career in Ear Nose and Throat surgery, before transitioning into General Practice in 2006. She trained on the Riverside scheme at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and worked at a busy practice in Fulham before moving out of London and settling in Winchester. She has worked at the Friarsgate Practice for the last two years.

Nathalie is married with a young family and a crazy dog, they live just outside Winchester

Dr Olivia Rix, MBBS (Lon) BSc (Hons) MRCGP DCH DRCOG DFSRH

Olivia trained at Guy's, King's & St. Thomas' Medical School in London. When she qualified in 2005 she moved to Hampshire to start her GP training in Winchester and she completed her final GP registrar training at the Friarsgate Practice. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice but especially paediatrics and women's health.

Dr Elizabeth Meredith

Elizabeth studied medicine at Imperial College, London and qualified in 2006. After several years working in hospital medicine around Hampshire and Australia she switched to general practice and started work at The Friarsgate Practice as a GP in 2017.

She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and young son as well as swimming and cycling.

Dr Victoria Ayres

Dr Victoria Ayres studied medicine at Southampton University and qualified in 2009. Dr Ayres completed her GP training in Dorset and joined the Friarsgate practice in January 2018.

Dr Ayres enjoys all aspects of General Practice, but especially enjoys paediatrics and women’s health.

She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and young daughter as well as running and cycling.

Earnings Disclosure

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice..

The average pay for GPs working in The Friarsgate Practice in the last financial year was £64, 127 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 5 full time GPs, 10 part time GPs and one locum GP who worked in the practice for more than six months
